In
1925, Ole Rommesmo, Sr., as a 21 year old, emigrated to the
United States from Norway. After a few years lumber jacking in the wilds
of northern Minnesota, Ole trekked off
to Minneapolis where he worked as a general laborer by day and learned
welding at night. In 1930, he accepted a welder position in Fargo, North
Dakota. During World War II, Ole supervised construction of a US-Canada
airbase in eastern Canada.
Ole launched his first company, Fargo
Tank, in 1945. He was known throughout his life and in business for
his hard work, his integrity
and his honesty.
To Ole, a handshake was his contract and his word was his bond. His business
philosophy was, "It's gotta be made before we get paid." That
was Ole's way of emphasizing the importance of high quality materials,
uncompromising workmanship and exceptional customer service.
The tradition continued as Ole Rommesmo,
Jr. began working in the business as a young man. For many years, Ole
Jr. worked closely with his father,
learning the business, becoming part of the management team and getting
to know the capabilities of the companies' dedicated employees.
Valuing
a team approach, Ole exemplifies his father's commitment to quality
products and outstanding personal service. His vision for
the future is centered on a solid, experienced staff that recognizes
the importance of product innovation coupled with customer satisfaction.
The Rommesmo Companies are well prepared to continue supplying the construction
industries with products, ideas and services.
